What & For Whom? This two-day workshop is addressed to professionals in higher education institutions who work in international marketing and recruitment. This workshop addresses, in practical terms, the need higher education institutions have to effectively use their resources toward international student recruitment.

Workshop One will focus on the use of social media as a modern method of student recruitment supported by online solutions: Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter and Google+. The Workshop, addressed to attendees up to advanced level, is a step-by-step guide on how to create an effective social media footprint for your institution, focusing on Facebook as the key social media student recruitment tool. Within one day the international experts will take you through the entire process of how to set up, manage, maintain and monitor the Facebook fan page for your higher education institution. Bring your laptops and you will leave with live Facebook page!

Workshop Two will discuss the details of working with agents to cost-effectively recruit quality students around the globe. This workshop is aimed at international recruiters interested in learning more on how to get started or to work more effectively with recruitment agents. Attendees will learn why agents are increasingly important in international recruiting and hear from industry experts how to recruit, manage and motivate recruitment agents to best effects whilst protecting your institutional brand.

 

When? November 13 and 14, 2013

This two-day workshop gathered higher education professionals from Poland, Estonia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, UK and Hungary. We talked about how to effectively use HEIs’ resources toward international student recruitment.

85% of attendants thought that the course was EXCELLENT and VERY GOOD.

Workshop One focused on the use of social media as a modern method of student recruitment supported by online solutions: Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter and Google+. Participants learned how their organisation can use a mix of social media and communities created therein in its student recruitment strategies and why it is so important in contemporary marketing. Facebook was in a special focus as the key social media student recruitment tool.

Workshop Two discussed the details of working with agents to cost-effectively recruit quality students around the globe – how to set up and maintaining the cooperation. Attendees learned why agents are increasingly important in international recruiting and heard from industry experts (Markus Badde of ICEF and Chris Price of Adventus Education) how to recruit, manage and motivate recruitment agents to best effects whilst protecting the institutional brand.

Markus Badde

Markus Badde

Markus Badde is the CEO of ICEF GmbH, connecting international educators and student recruitment agents to key markets and networks worldwide, helping them to achieve the results and efficiencies they require in growing quality international student enrollments. He has a background in journalism and publishing, having studied at CELSA (Sorbonne University – Paris IV) and worked in the media and communications sector in France during the 1980’s before co-founding ICEF in 1991. After that, Markus held various senior marketing positions over eight years at Cisco Systems, the world leader in Internet networking. Before re-joining ICEF in 2004, Markus spent two years as Business Development Director at ICWE GmbH, organizer of events such as StudyWorld, Expolingua Berlin, the EAIE Exhibition, as well as Online Educa Berlin, the largest international e-learning conference. Chris Price

Chris Price

Chris Price, MA, director at Adventus Education. Educated in the UK and US, in the 20 years of his career Chris has been a director in international offices and international marketing departments in UK universities, media agency working on international higher education marketing and in international student recruitment agency, which gave him experience as a manager and leader in public and private education. As a consultant, Chris works on agent relations, marketing in education, international recruitment and digital marketing. He hold a title of a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, he has been a Marketing&Recruitment Professional Section at the EAIE. At conferences, workshops and seminar Christ trains employees of universities, private institutions and education promotion agencies. Chris is the winner of Bo Gregersen Award for Best Practice form EAIE for innovative input into international education and Queens Award for Enterprise for a university for its successful international student recruitment campaign he led. Tony Lee

Tony LeeTony Lee works for INTO University Partnerships Ltd in the UK, developing communication strategies with the use of digital marketing techniques and relying on social network for eight prestigious universities in the US and UK. In the last 10 years in promotion and marketing targeted at youth he created one of the first in the world TV2web enterprises, he was a marketing manager at a TV channel for young people and a commercial manager at Optimistic Media, managing the international affairs of the company, created and managed two start-ups. Tony is one of the founders of University Choice TV, created Global Campus connecting students to universities. He frequently speaks at EAIE conferences and for Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), he is a trainer at British Council for Digital Marketing T&D for universities in the UK.
